Catherine's House

Retreat space for people with HIV/AIDS and their caretakers

Catherine's House is named after Catherine Dondlinger of Wichita, Kansas. During her lifetime, she was a generous supporter of the work being carried out by The Earth Abides Land/Trust/Catholic Worker Farm. It is in her memory, and the memory of her family ( including her daughter Beth Dondlinger-Whatford, a founding member ) that retreat building was named. Since we moved to the farm in 1976, we have been involved in a variety of ministries: respite space for people from the cities; assistance in resolving drug and alcohol problems; foster care for problem youth; shelter for battered women and their children; renewal space for urban Catholic Workers. From 1987 to 2006, we offered a summer camp for small groups of developmentally disabled adults. Since 1991 we have provided respite/retreat at the CW Farm and since 2001, at Catherine's House on the CW Farm
